Professor Fisher\u2019s more than 50 years of experience as an occupational therapist, occupational scientist, and educator has inspired her to develop innovative assessments of quality of occupational performance and the Occupational Therapy Intervention Process Model (OTIPM). Most recently she co-authored the book, Powerful Practice: A Model for Authentic Occupational Therapy. The OTIPM and this book emerged as a solution to a common challenge \u2014 how to harness the full power of occupation in practice, education, and research. She received her Bachelor of Science degree in Occupational Therapy in 1981 at Colorado State University, an Advanced Master\u2019s degree in Occupational Therapy from New York University in 1994 and her Ph.D. in Educational Psychology with an emphasis in measurement and statistics from the University of Kansas in 1999. Her practice has focused on mental health. Dr. Brown began teaching in 1991, and previous faculty positions include the University of Kansas Medical Center and Touro University Nevada. As a researcher she has received grants from the National Institute of Disability Research and Rehabilitation and the National Institute of Mental Health. She is a co-author with Winnie Dunn of the Adolescent\/Adult Sensory Profile. She is also author of The Evidence-Based Practitioner and with Virginia Stoffel and Jaime Munoz, Occupational Therapy for Mental Health and most recently the 14th Edition of Willard and Spackman\u2019s Occupational Therapy with Glen Gillen. Her research has focused on sensory processing, cognition, wellness, and community living for individuals with serious mental illness. She developed NEW-R a weight loss program for individuals with serious mental illness in collaboration with the Center for Psychiatric Research at the University of Illinois – Chicago and this intervention has been adopted at numerous community mental health centers. Her current research with Winnie Dunn involves the development of a measure of interoception to compliment the Adolescent\/Adult Sensory Profile. <\/p>\n Title of the presentation: \u201cThe Sensory Profile Interoception scale: The Intersection of Participation and Body Awareness\u201d<\/p>\n [\/et_pb_team_member][et_pb_divider color=”#0099aa” divider_weight=”3px” _builder_version=”4.17.4″ _module_preset=”default” global_colors_info=”{}”][\/et_pb_divider][et_pb_team_member name=”Aaron Eakman” position=”Ph.D., OTR\/L, FAOTA” image_url=”https:\/\/3joint-inteo.umh.es\/files\/2025\/09\/Aaron-Eakman-22-scaled.jpg” _builder_version=”4.17.4″ _module_preset=”default” global_colors_info=”{}”]<\/p>\n Introducing Dr. Aaron Eakman, an Associate Professor and a Fellow of the American Occupational Therapy Association (FAOTA). Dr. Eakman is a distinguished researcher in the field of occupational science, holding a Ph.D. from the University of Southern California. <\/p>\n His research focuses on two key areas: the role of occupational therapy in promoting sleep health, and the development of instruments to measure the impact of engagement in meaningful activities on health and well-being. He is a prolific author, known for his work developing the “Engagement in Meaningful Activities Survey” (EMAS), a tool that has since been adapted internationally. <\/p>\n His work has been recognized with important awards, including the prestigious Fulbright US Scholar Award<\/b>.
